Job Description:
We are seeking a talented SingleStore DBA with strong Python programming skills to join our team in Austin, TX. As a SingleStore DBA, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing our SingleStore (formerly known as MemSQL) databases, ensuring their reliability, performance, and scalability. Your expertise in Python programming will also be essential for automating tasks and enhancing database operations efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain SingleStore databases in production and development environments.
- Monitor database performance, conduct performance tuning, and implement optimizations to ensure optimal throughput and response times.
- Design and implement database backup, replication, and failover strategies to ensure data availability and disaster recovery.
- Collaborate with software engineers and data analysts to understand database requirements and implement appropriate solutions.
- Develop and maintain Python scripts and automation tools for database management, monitoring, and maintenance tasks.
- Troubleshoot database issues, perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Implement and enforce database security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience (X years) as a SingleStore/MemSQL DBA, including installation, configuration, and administration.
- Strong proficiency in Python programming for scripting and automation.
- Experience with database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
- Knowledge of SQL and database design principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their database services.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts and practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
